Alumni Welcome

Dear Harvard Alumni,

The Harvard Varsity Club is excited to announce the creation of the HVC Athlete Medical Mentor Program (AMMP) through the combined efforts of Stephen J. O'Brien M.D. '77, Olivia Abbate '14 (track and field) and Bob Glatz '88.

As a former student athlete, you remember how much it meant to have exposure to a physician that you aspired to emulate. In many circumstances, this helps firm up the commitment to pursue a health care career, and not to get too discouraged by the tougher journey they have, as compared to their fellow students with the same ambitions, but without the same time constraints.

Starting with shadowing a former Harvard student athlete like you, AMMP aims to provide assistance and direction to Harvard student athletes with an interest in medicine, as an adjunct to other resources currently at the University.

We invite you, who once proudly wore a crimson jersey--and now works in the medical profession--to help us launch this program. If you could just give one day to allow a student to shadow you, talk with you, or simply form a connection - it can make a difference.

We thank you for your consideration, and hope that you will join us in this exciting new opportunity for Harvard student-athletes by providing some basic information about your professional practice. Please find more information by downloading the informational packet here.

Sincerely,

Stephen J. O'Brien, M.D., M.B.A. '77
